| 3/14/1931 | First Indian talkie film 'Alam Ara' released at Majestic Cinema, Bombay. Directed by Ardeshir Irani, the film was 11,152 ft. long and was produced by Imperial Film Co., Bombay and beared censored No. 10043 on March 11. The most remarkable thing about this film was birth of sound in Indian films, it came with a bang and quickly displaced the silent movies and brought revolutionary changes in the whole set up of the industry. |

| 1/1/1949 | A ceasefire eventually came into force. Under UN supervision, a negotiated Cease Fire Line was drawn up on an actual holding basis pending future settlements. This meandering, and at places militarily illogical line, ran some 700 kilometres from Chhamb in the South to a map reference point NJ 9842 in Ladakh in the North. The fighting was to continue for 15 months, with heavy RIAF involvement throughout, but despite being continuously on an operational footing throughout this period, the re-organisation and modernisation of the service continued unabated. |

This has additional capabilities such as mobile satellite service, business communication and television outreach beyond Indian boundaries. This became inoperable due to power bus anamoly since Oct. 4, 1997. It was launched by European launch vehicle, Ariane from Kourov in French Guyana. |
