Historical Event on 6/23/1911

King George V was today crowned ""King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the seas, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India,"" at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony evoking the continuity and tradition of the British monarchy magnificent spectacle. Thousands of spectators crowded the streets for hours, hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal procession. Partition of Bengal notified to create the Presidency of Bengal. The Imperial capital shifted from Calcutta to Delhi.

11/17/1932The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
11/17/1932Don Francis-Di-Almeda of Portugal arrived at Cochin as Viceroy of India.
12/9/1873Lord Northbrook, Viceroy and Governor General of India laid the foundation stone of the building.
