3/20/1602United East India Company of the Netherlands i.e. Dutch East India Company was chartered by States-General of Holland. During its 96-year history, it became one of the world's most powerful companies.
10/20/1774New Regulating Act was introduced which abolished the East India Company Government and a new Government was formed.
9/4/1880Bhupendranath Dutt, Bengali litterateur and politician, was born.
6/24/1996Nanchil K. Manoharan, former DMK Finance Minister, expelled from the party.
7/6/1986Babu Jagjivan Ram, valiant freedom fighter, passed away. He held many prominent ministerial portfolios such as Communication Minister (1952-56), Railway Minister (1956-62), Food and Agriculture Minister (1967-70), Defence Minister (1970-74). After 1977, he became the Deputy Prime Minister (Defence) in Janta regime. Thereafter, he established Congress (J). His uninterrupted representation in the Parliament from 1936 to 1986 is a world record.(5-4-91).

4/15/1946The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members Advance Base Depot, who laid down their lives to repulse several waves of Japanese attacks, was erected near a village named Kangla Tongbi at Mile 8 on the Imphal - Dimapur road. It was originally erected from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.
