Historical Event on 4/1/1985

Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture was established during the 7th Plan period. The Institute started functioning independently since April 1987. The Headquarters of the Institute are located in Chennai with field and farm facilities at Muttukadu and three Research Centres at Kakdwip(West Bengal), Puri(Orissa) and Narakkal (Kerala).

10/29/1996Kamini' (Kalpakkam Mini), a 30 KW research reactor which uses man-made Uranium-233 as fuel and the only working reactor of its kind in the world, attains 'criticality'.
