6/2/1992Bahlul Khan Lodi, an Afghan and founder of Lodi dynasty, died in Delhi.
8/9/1909Vinayak Krishna Gokak, famous Kannad poet, play writer, critic of literature, educationist and Gyanpeeth awardee, was born at Savanur.
9/24/1932Poona Pact' was signed between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This historical agreement allowed increased representation for untouchables. Also, Gandhi ended his fast.
6/2/1986One thousand Sikhs arrested at demonstrations in Punjab.
1/1/1949A ceasefire eventually came into force. Under UN supervision, a negotiated Cease Fire Line was drawn up on an actual holding basis pending future settlements. This meandering, and at places militarily illogical line, ran some 700 kilometres from Chhamb in the South to a map reference point NJ 9842 in Ladakh in the North. The fighting was to continue for 15 months, with heavy RIAF involvement throughout, but despite being continuously on an operational footing throughout this period, the re-organisation and modernisation of the service continued unabated.

4/24/1858Kunwar Singh, revolutionary of Indian mutiny and freedom fighter, passed away. He fought his last battle near Jagdishpur, Bihar on April 23, 1858 and defeated the Britishers but was deeply wounded. He also organised the national rebels.
